5 Awesome Spring Activities for your Dog- and You!
Spring is almost here and to say we are excited is an understatement! Now that the weather is getting warmer, it’s time to take the fun outside. But don’t leave your pup out of all the fun. After all, they’ve spent the winter inside with you, too! Here are five awesome and fun spring activities for you and your pup.
Take a Hike
Spring is the perfect time for a hike. The weather is just warm enough where you won’t be freezing but not too hot where you’ll be sweating ten minutes in. Find a park or trail close to your home and get exploring! Your dog will love exploring a new place – including all the sights and sounds – and you’ll enjoy the time outdoors. Be sure to bring enough water for you and your pup. And, be sure to check their paws for any cuts or abrasions from rocks, wood chips, or other irritants.
Go on a Doggy Date
Like a coffee date with your friend, schedule a time for your pup and their best friend to spend some time together this spring! You can schedule a meet-up at a new dog park, take a walk around the neighborhood, or explore a new dog-friendly restaurant or bar. If you don’t feel like going out, take it to the backyard! They’ll have just as much running around and playing together in the backyard.
Hit the Beach
You may not associate the beach with spring, but it’s actually the best time to take your pup. Most beaches have restrictions on when dogs are allowed on the beach (typically between September-May) due to the weather and population. During the summer months, the beach is just too hot for pups, but spring is the perfect time! Some beaches even have designated off-leash areas!
Learn a New Trick
Now that the weather is nice, take training sessions outdoors! Whether your furry friend is a seasoned pro or a newbie when it comes to training, there is always a new trick to be learned. Try teaching them to roll over or pick out a particular toy among other ones. Or, you can up the stakes and teach your dog agility. You don’t even have to spend money on fancy classes, you can create your own agility course right in your backyard using lawn chairs, hula hoops, and spare cardboard or boxes.
Go on a Day Trip
Who doesn’t love to travel? Let your pup get in on the fun by taking a day trip to a nearby town. It doesn’t have to be far, but we guarantee it’ll make your dog’s day. They’ll love experiencing the new sights and sounds while you get to explore a new town! Pack some snacks for you and your pup or do some research on dog-friendly restaurants before you hit the road. When it comes to spring activities for you and your dog, the possibilities are endless. Do you have a favorite springtime activity you enjoy with your pup? Let us know in the comments below!
